A new study by researchers at the University of South Carolina has shown that using Twitter can result in weight loss, mainly because Twitter users can provide information and support to one another through tweets and status updates. In the study, published by Translational Behavior Medicine, 96 overweight and obese men and women living in a metropolitan area over a six-month period were required to listen to podcasts, broken up into a group that also used Twitter and one that did not. The group that used Twitter reported more weight loss over time. Article
