VA looking to modernize to improve care

The Department of Veterans Affairs' Office for Enterprise Development, looking to improve its service to veterans by improving IT, is implementing technology from ICOR Partners to help get the job done. ICOR will be responsible for developing the VA IT Integrated Program Plan, which will "integrate cost, schedule and resource estimates" and information technology that ultimately will improve the VistA medical network. HealtheVet, a new technology platform, also is in the works, and will fall under the VA IPP umbrella.

"Creating [President Obama's] vision for transforming the VA into a 21st Century organization requires a comprehensive review of our department," Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki said in a letter to veterans. "We approach that review understanding that veterans are central to everything VA does."

Ronald Lambo, a managing director for ICOR, also commented that his company will play a key role in the future of VA.

"We look forward to supporting the VA with our expertise in IT portfolio management, program management and advanced project controls," Lambo said.
