Stanford Hospital to outsource virtualization, business intelligence to Accenture
Stanford Hospital & Clinics has signed a seven-year "connected health technology" agreement with Accenture in an effort to improve patient care and streamline operations. Financial terms were not disclosed.
As part of the deal, Stanford will move its IT infrastructure to an Accenture virtualization platform, for which the consulting firm will manage certain data centers and networks, and staff help desks for Stanford Hospital users. Accenture also will help Stanford Hospital implement business intelligence, other analytics tools and unspecified "patient-centered technology."
Stanford Hospital already has an advanced IT installation, as it reached Stage 7 on the HIMSS Analytics EMR Adoption Model--the highest level on the scale--earlier this year.
"Our goal is to utilize technology to benefit patients while assuring that we have the most advanced capabilities and a cost-effective solution for managing operations," Stanford Hospital CIO Carolyn Byerly says in a press release.
