Resolving health IT contradictions
If you look at studies of health IT's value, you'll find that they reach a wide variety of conclusions, making it difficult to determine how important it is to healthcare reform efforts. But despite the variety found in such studies, there are some key conclusions that can be isolated, suggests Peter Basch, MD, a clinical leader for EHR implementation at MedStar Health. These include that adopting health IT without transforming healthcare delivery and payment methods won't pay off, and that health IT use won't trigger healthcare reform on its own, he says. Article
