SPOTLIGHT: Florida physician exec rallies local IT developers
So much news on the health IT front has been of the national variety, but let's face it, healthcare is inherently local. Thus, change has to happen at the local level. "The future is coming. The people in this room can help move healthcare forward by proving the technology that we implement and by writing better apps," Dr. Lonnie Draper, CEO of HIE software developer Avocare Health, Tallahassee, Fla., said at a local technology conference last week, the Tallahassee Democrat reports. "We want to do [HIE] for a number of different reasons. The first is, it really is better healthcare. When I see you in the emergency center, I know an awful lot about you the second I look at you, but I don't know enough not to make certain mistakes," Draper explained. Article
