SPOTLIGHT: AMA to offer online access to Isabel diagnosis decision support

The American Medical Association will offer the Isabel Pro diagnosis decision support system through the its new, web-based health IT platform. The system, from Reston, Va.-based Isabel Healthcare, grew out of a serious misdiagnosis that nearly killed co-founder Jason Maude's three-year-old daughter, Isabel, a decade ago. Rather than sue, Maude joined with attending physician Dr. Joseph Britto to develop and market diagnosis decision support software. U.S. physicians do not need to be AMA members to access the system via the platform, which will go online early next year. It's currently being beta-tested in Michigan. Press release
