Report: NYC IT investments reap progress

An investment of about $100 million over 10 years in IT systems at New York City's public hospitals and clinics has improved levels of quality care and their former systems, according to a new report from the Commonwealth Fund. 

The conglomerate of health facilities, called the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, is the largest municipal health system nationwide. In 1991, the corporation implemented an EMR system to connect all of its clinical information and physicians, as well as to "increase the reliability of care," according to the report.
