Misys gives software to CT, takes job from CEO

It was quite a week for Misys Healthcare Systems. On Tuesday, the company's Center for Community Health Leadership picked New Haven, CT, as its first recipient of a grant for EHR software to build community-wide healthcare connectivity--to the tune of $3 million. "The goal of this grant program is to provide local healthcare organizations with the resources and expertise they need to make community-wide data sharing a reality," center director Leigh Burchell said in a company statement. 

Conspicuously absent from the press release was the name of Misys Healthcare's CEO. Then, two days later, we get word that Skelton has stepped down in the wake of a 22 percent drop in operating income for the six months ended November 30th. From parent company Misys Plc's headquarters in London, corporate boss Mike Lawrie called the results of North Carolina-based healthcare division "unacceptable." Paul Lewis, who joined Misys Healthcare last week as senior vice president of sales and services, was named interim general manager of Misys Healthcare.
