In an interesting twist, One Beacon Professional Partners, which insures managed care organizations against organizational errors and omissions, is looking to protect its clients from liability by setting up an electronic credentialing service to ensure that provider information is accurate and up to date. The Canton, MA-based affiliate of One Beacon Insurance Group is working with Medversant Technologies, Los Angeles, to create AutoVerifi--an online system to help health plans credential member-providers instantly and accurately.

"One Beacon Professional Partners understands the exposures managed care organizations can face as a result of outdated or inaccurate data," Medversant CEO Matt Haddad said, according to Healthcare IT News.

"By enabling them to verify and update credentialing information continuously, customers know about potential problems immediately," added Susan Angelo, senior VP for managed care services at One Beacon.
