KLAS: Nurses, CIOs, CFOs have differing opinions about scheduling systems
Whether a hospital staff scheduling system meets customer needs largely depends on who you ask. "CNOs want a staff scheduling solution that's easy to manage and easy to use, CIOs want strong integration and support and CFOs want to improve the bottom line," explains Jared Peterson, vice president of operations at KLAS Enterprises. The Orem, UT-based research organization recently issued a report on scheduling software that found big differences between nursing, finance and human resources departments when it comes to software preference and customer satisfaction.
"Those differing needs play to the strengths of different vendors, which often make the task of selecting a staff scheduling solution a very difficult one," Peterson, the study's lead author, says, according to Healthcare IT News.
Nurses, who are looking for usability, listed RES-Q Labor Resource Management and McKesson ANSOS One-Staff as the top scheduling systems in the KLAS rankings. Kronos Workforce Schedule came in dead last among nurses of the six titles rated, but scored high with hospital finance and HR executives. Overall, RES-Q was "best in KLAS," followed by AtStaff and McKesson.
