The state of Indiana has decided to provide dozens of hospitals and clinics with visual clinical support systems designed to improve diagnoses and help them prepare for emergencies. Under the pilot program, which is run by the Indiana State Department of Health, will put the technology in 42 hospitals and 11 local health departments and clinics. The system, VisualDx, will offer access to over 14,000 images which should help providers diagnose 800-odd visually identifiable disease, drug reactions and infections. In addition to supporting better clinical decisions, the system meets emergency preparedness standards for several agency, including HRSA and CDC bioterrorism preparedness requirements.
