How health IT can keep hospital leaders in the loop
Within her first two months as CIO of Pennsylvania Hospital, part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, Linda Sinisi created a communication process to inform senior leaders and medical department heads about IT problems and how she and her team were trying to solve them. "For example, if we have to temporarily take a system out of service, I personally inform our executive team immediately," Sinisi writes on our Hospital Impact blog. "Regularly talking with executives and department heads is the best way to learn what is important to them. Actively listen, as well as acknowledge that you understand what you heard. Take and follow suggestions and insights that they offer you. Don't assume you know everything!" -- To read Sinisi's entire post, click through to Hospital Impact.
