Hospital IT's global market could reach $35B by 2015

According to new information from Global Industry Analysts, the global hospital information systems market will grow beyond $35 billion by the year 2015. The growth should be driven largely by increased U.S. hospitals, the largest market in the world.

The growth in this market is likely to be fueled substantially by the $19 billion in stimulus funding just approved by President Obama, and related spending triggered by the federal cash infusion.  Also, U.S. hospitals have gradually begun to seek out specialized systems such as laboratory information systems and radiology information systems, the firm says.

The Asia-Pacific region, meanwhile, is the fastest growing hospital information systems market in the world, the research group says. It's projected to hit a compound annual growth rate of 11.5 percent over the next few years.
