Department of Labor grants to boost health IT training efforts

Health IT is one of several areas that will benefit from $500 million worth of grants being dispersed by the U.S. Department of Labor for the development and expansion of training programs announced this week. The grants, according to Healthcare IT News, are part of the department's Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Initiative, which encourages collaboration between training providers and employers. Schools in 12 states--Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming--are slated to receive more than $84 million in grants.
