CMS awards virtual data center contract to 8 vendors

Eight vendors will compete for individual task orders for building out several parts of a new virtual data center for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Government Health IT reports. CMS awarded a 10-year contract that could be worth as much as $15 billion to the vendors, which include Accenture Federal Services LLC, of Arlington, Va.; Buccaneer, of Warrenton, Va.; Companion Data Services, of Columbia, S.C.; CGI Federal, of Fairfax, Va.; HP Enterprise Services, of Herndon, Va.; IBM US Federal, of Bethesda, Md.; Lockheed Martin, of Gaithersburg, Md.; and National Government Services, of Indianapolis.
