CCHIT plans to incorporate HHS framework for PHRs

Last week, the HHS released a privacy and security framework for health IT. Now, the Certification Commission for Healthcare IT is planning to incorporate some of the framework into its own personal health record certification efforts.

The CCHIT is planning to launch a PHR certification program next year, but right now is just working to refine its draft criteria.

Meanwhile, the HHS also released a privacy and security toolkit, including a draft privacy notice for PHRs. That notice improves on a label that allows consumers to compare privacy policies of various PHRs to let them make a more informed decision.
