SureScripts this week announced it would be working with the State Alliance for eHealth to research methods for improving medication management. The new program will look at ways to improve "safety, quality and efficiency of the patient medication management process," according to SureScripts. The group, the Center for Improving Medication Management, is a collaboration between a broad cross-section of industry groups and vendors, including SureScripts, the American Academy of Family Physicians, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, Humana Inc., Intel Corp. and the Medical Group Management Association.

The announcement comes at an auspicious time for SureScripts, not surprisingly. Alaska has just passed legislation [1] making it the 50th (and final state) which has made e-prescribing legal.
