Tina Buop, Chief Information Officer, La Clinica de la Raza

Tina Buop is the chief information officer La Clinica de la Raza, a community health center in Oakland, Calif. Prior to that, she was the CIO for Muir Medical Group IPA, a multi-specialty IPA of over 600 physicians. Throughout her career, Tina has championed the planning, development, implementation, adoption and support of electronic health records, practice management solutions and health information exchange. Tina is Project Management Professional (PMI certified), serves on the CalOhii Security Steering Team and is a member of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). For more for more than 18 years she led business and technical teams for Fortune 100 & 500 Companies, including Robert Half International and DHL Worldwide Express, as well as several healthcare organizations within California.

Benjamin D. Horne

Benjamin D. Horne, Ph.D., MPH Director of Cardiovascular and Genetic Epidemiology, Intermountain Medical Center

Dr. Horne studies genetic and traditional cardiovascular epidemiology within a group of academic cardiologists, thoracic surgeons and epidemiologists at Intermountain Healthcare, where he has been since 1996. Dr. Horne has advanced training in clinical quality improvement and plays a key role in several of Intermountain Healthcare’s ground-breaking quality improvement programs. In 2006, he developed the Intermountain Risk Score for measuring patients’ underlying health status and, in 2012, he modified that risk score to predict 30-day hospital readmission among myocardial infarction and heart failure patients. He received his doctor of philosophy degree from the University of Utah in genetic epidemiology through the Department of Medical Informatics and has authored more than 170 peer-reviewed scientific papers on diverse topics. Some of those topics include genetic predictors of peripartum cardiomyopathy, statin medication effects on inflammation and the association of routine fasting with diabetes and coronary artery disease.

Julio Silva

Julio Silva, VP Clinical Systems & Chief Medical Information Officer, Rush University Medical Center

Julio Silva, M.D., is the vice president of clinical systems and chief medical information officer at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.  Dr. Silva has been with Rush since 2001 when he joined the medical staff as the Associate Clinical Chairman for the Department of Emergency Medicine.  He began working with Information Services in 2006 and was named CMIO in 2008. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago and completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. In addition to his role at Rush, Dr. Silva was recently named as the Medical Director for the MetroChicago Health Information Exchange.

Kaveh Safavi

Kaveh Safavi, M.D., J.D. Managing Director, Accenture Health Practice- North America

Kaveh Safavi, M.D., J.D. is Accenture’s health industry lead for North America. He oversees the payer, provider and public health offerings and is responsible for the health strategy, growth initiatives and market capabilities. Safavi joined Accenture from Cisco, in 2011, where he led the global healthcare practice. Prior to that, he was Thomson Reuters’ chief medical officer of Health Businesses and United Healthcare’s vice president of medical affairs. He also has served in leadership roles at Solucient, Humana, HealthSpring and Alexian Hospital Network. As a seasoned executive, Safavi brings more than two decades of leadership experience to Accenture Health. He’s responsible for the creation of the Center for Healthcare Improvement at Health Businesses of Thomson Reuters and, while at HealthSpring, he established one of the Midwest’s first electronic medical record systems. He’s published numerous papers and is quoted on healthcare issues in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and the Economist. Safavi has earned the distinction of both medical and law degrees—an M.D. from Loyola University School of Medicine and a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law. He is board-certified in internal medicine and pediatrics and completed his residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center.

Matt Siegel

Matt Siegel, Vice President, Strategy & Corporate Development, Verisk Health

Matt Siegel is Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development at Verisk Health. He joined Verisk Health in 2011 and leads overall strategy development for the company as a member of the executive leadership team, including expanding existing capabilities into new markets, linking together the breadth of Verisk Health assets to develop new solutions, and leading business partnerships and corporate development activities to increase customer value and grow the enterprise.  Matt has 20 years of experience in health care in both domestic and international settings and across the commercial, non-profit and government sectors.  He has expertise in market, business and product development, strategy, analytics, consulting, implementation and operational execution. Prior to joining Verisk Health, Matt spent nearly eight years in a number of roles at Health Dialog, a leading population health management company.  His responsibilities included developing and bringing to market products designed to identify opportunities for risk reduction, quality improvement and behavior change in population health management programs.  Matt also spent five years in the UK establishing and leading Health Dialog’s European analytic operations. Before Health Dialog, Matt held positions in health care systems initiatives for the American Cancer Society and strategic planning for Tufts Health Plan. Matt has a BA from Bowdoin College and MBA from Boston University, Graduate School of Management.
