Cerner does development with Missouri med school

The University of Missouri School of Medicine has struck a deal with a commercial sector giant, Cerner, to develop patient care and physician training tools. Among other projects, the two will work to enhance Cerner's EMR system to better address care of chronic conditions. Study: Telemonitoring seems promising

USDA offers $128M for rural telemedicine

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced last week that it will offer an additional $128 million for a mix of telemedicine grant and loan funding for rural healthcare organizations, along with support for distance learning. To date, the USDA has invested more than $166 million in its Distance Learning and Telemedicine program over the past five years, serving 2,226 healthcare organizations. Partners tests remote blood pressure monitoring

Boston healthcare giant Partners HealthCare has kicked off a new experiment under which it will monitor employee health by tracking high blood pressure online. Partners is rolling out the pilot with Boston-area IT management firm EMC, which has agreed to find 400 employees with high blood pressure to participate. Firm offers mobile disease management platform

San Francisco-based mobile applications developer BeWell Mobile has partnered with Indian technology firm Wipro Technology to offer cellphone-based disease management services.
